Frank and I hope the new year is off to a great start! We wanted to take a moment to catch you up on one of our biggest projects ever – building a restaurant! For those of you who may not already know, we purchased a former auto repair shop at 707 Kenmore Avenue in the Town of Tonawanda. A lot of activity has been happening there lately! Fingers crossed it continues at this pace. A neighborhood hot dog joint is what Frank always wanted – and it has been fun to watch how excited he's been (for the most part) about the entire process. We are not naïve to the fact that this is all new to us. But, we are thrilled to make that corner our own & bring something new to the community. So many of you have reached out to us in excitement. In light of everything, we sure don't take this project lightly. We have spent a good amount of time knocking down walls, opening up the space and getting dirty. The 50-year-old+ building is a solid concrete block – making demo somewhat challenging, but incredibly therapeutic. Frank and I were able to take five years of mixed feelings out during all of the demolition. There are a lot of aspects of the building that we plan on keeping intact – from the garage doors, to some exposed bricks to a beautiful steel beam. Figuring out how to build a restaurant & incorporate design elements into the space while staying true to some of the original character of the building has been one of my favorite parts of the design process. It is still very early on. And there is still an incredible amount of work to be done. We will continue to share some updates on social media, so keep a lookout for pictures on all of the progress!
